Opening for CHRIS HO‘s album release was MIKAILA TOMBE whom I’ve never heard of before (being out of touch with the music scene for over a year – I haven’t kept up with a lot of bands/artists like I used to) hails from Nanaimo, BC.
Decided to head to Whytecliff Park today with my buddy, Adrian. We left a little later than I would have liked as I usually leave around 10/11am to beat the traffic and avoid how busy the park would be.
First of all, I got up early in the morning to get ready to go meet up with my friend Kristy to go to the Icebreaker sale happening at some hotel downtown. Apparently this two-day sale is something that has been happening for a few years now.(?) Continue reading →
I haven’t written a mini-blog post in forever! I’m slowly getting back into it.
After a few days of pouring rain in Vancouver (or Raincouver for those of us who live here), the sun finally came out. Not to miss this somewhat otherwise “rare” opportunity before more rainclouds decide to pour in, I joined my friend for a walk along English Bay.
It’s so nice to see my boys again! If you remember, or watched any of my New York City vlogs, I went over and stayed at my friend Rob’s apartment (along with his roommate, Baba) for a little over 2 weeks.
I think the last time I went to Whytecliff Park was in 2009. I had just gotten out of a relationship and I decided to venture off to Vancouver to explore parks and beaches because it was the only thing that helped keep my mind off of things. I guess every one has that same type of vice.
Now 7 years later and living in Vancouver, I went on a spontaneous adventure to West Vancouver. (I originally wanted to go on Saturday, but an accident happened on the main road and so I was detoured. Therefore deciding to just go the next day). Thankfully, the weather was still gorgeous.
I jettisoned off in the late afternoon hoping to arrive a couple hours before sunset.
When I arrived it was pretty much how I remembered it all those years ago: vibrant and calm.
In the middle of my treck up the side of a cliff, I noticed that on top of the tiny rock island across from me there was a couple. The tiny rock island is accessed via along the rocks and boulders that led out towards the island. The water was already elevated to where most of the rocks and boulders were submerged. I think everyone there was wondering when the couple would decide to wade there way back to the beachside.
I went over to Victoria for the second weekend in a row to check out my buddy, TYSON ELDER‘s (creator & all-around badass of YYJ ROCKTOGRAPHERS) biannual showcase that he put on for local concert photographer’s. Always a fun time, the first night always having live entertainment and beer! Two of my favourite things!
