ACCIDENTALLY OFF-ROADING IN A MINI-VAN (KONA DAY 8)

My brother-in-law turned a little early, and thought he was going the right way to the beach (he wasn’t). When we got to gravel road and later potholes, he decided to commit and keep going as we can see the ocean ahead and a few cars, so “there must be something there, right?”.

Normally I would be all for it! EXCEPT: 1) We were in a mini-van 2) My parents were not into it 3) My sister was not into it 4) My 4-year old nephew was not enjoying it 5) My 1-year old nephew was not into it, but then promptly fell asleep and 6) I was more worried about the tires.

But we committed.

HAKUNA BAY + I FINALLY GOT TO SEE A SEA TURTLE! (KONA DAY 4)

Today was a day full of activities!

Went to the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company factory to get some shortbread cookies for my co-worker. These are by far my favourite shortbread cookies!

From there we went and spent time at Hakuna Bay. This, I remember being, where I filmed a time lapse of the sun setting. It’s nice to go earlier in the afternoon and spend some time in the water.

Laaloa Bay (Kona Day 3)

Started the 3rd day off with my little nephew, Nikolas! He loves technology as you can tell from the video.

In the afternoon we checked out a beach close to the resort we were staying at, Laaloa Bay. It was beautiful. A small beach but pretty nice! The waves were huge!

I Sat Beside 2 Drunk Girls On My Flight to Kona (Kona Day 1)

10:25am – I was out the door and in the car as my brother in law, Anthony, drove me to YVR airport. My flight was at 1:59pm, but I prefer arriving a little early to get through security and just settle and maybe grab a bite to eat.

Luckily, by having a Nexus card, I breezed through the security line-up quite easily. It took a total of maybe 7 minutes (?) Not long at all! I almost forgot my Toronto Blue Jays hat because I breezed through security so easily!

SUNSET CRATER

We just left BEDROCK CITY, and headed down Historic Route 66 towards Sunset Crater, which was maybe a 3 hour drive?

On the way there we encountered an abandoned house, and you know… I WANTED TO GO EXPLORE IT. So we did 🙂

Music by my talented friends:

The song is called “West Coast” and I thought it was very appropriate for this video 🙂

TODAY IS THE DAY WE HEAD BACK TO CANADA!

It’s been a great 5 days of travelling, 4 hotel rooms, and much much food and shopping!

After travelling and only being able to explore a city for one day only, it’s definitely not enough time to really REALLY explore a place. But my friend and I wanted to maximize our time Continue reading

CANNON BEACH

WE FINALLY ARRIVED TO CANNON BEACH!

ONE WORD: GOONIES!

My 10 year old self was in pure joy! I mean just LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS! The weather “looks” terrible but I can assure you it was pretty warm out. I mean I wish the sun came out, but it could always be raining, and that would’ve sucked.

EXPLORING SEASIDE OREGON

We left Astoria and headed towards Seaside, Oregon!

We had like a few hours before our check-in time which was at 4pm. So, we had loads of time to wander around the beach and checked out the shops.

EXPLORING ASTORIA, OREGON

DAY 2: We set out around 9am and headed towards the Oregon coast!

First stop, ASTORIA!!! The name that sounds like a land that belongs in a Fairytale!

We immediately explored the pier by the water and walked along there. We visited a few shops (a vintage store and a record/music/pet store) and walked around where the boats were.
