Day 9 – Hong Kong

Today we visited one of Hong Kong’s oldest cemetery’s: St. Rahael’s Catholic Cemetery: Roman Catholic Cemetery (Private). What you may not know about me is that I really like exploring old cemeteries. Call it morbid or whatever, but I just like the history you can find when looking through old centuries of tombstones. I always try to see if I can find the oldest tombstone in the bunch – but in this case, it was a lot harder to do. The reason we are at this cemetery is to pay respects to family members who have passed away. When you first drive up to this cemetery it’s akin to when you first see the Grand Canyon – vast and never-ending – going for miles. Continue reading

Day 8 – Hong Kong

The family split up a little bit today – half of my cousins decided to go and shop some more – the other half are visiting old friends – the other half decided to go check out this science museum that caters to children about workplace safety. Yeah I know. There’s an actual SCIENCE MUSUEM for this. Suffice to say, my nephew LOVED IT. He’s obsessed with garbage trucks, dump trucks, and excavators. It was a dream come true.

Day 6 – Hong Kong

On Day 6, we set out to check out a Nature Sanctuary which took about 4 MTR (train stations) to get to! It was alright. I mean, it reminded me a little bit of Swans Nature Sanctuary in Victoria, BC.

Day 5 – Hong Kong

Today was a very adventurous day.

My cousin Jeff essentially became our tour guide for most of this trip and I can’t thank him enough for his patience! He took us to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. We took the scenic route where we climbed up some steep hills to get there but it was still a lot of fun when you’re adventuring with cousins you haven’t seen in a few years.

Afterwards, we went and explored “old Hong Kong” alleyways – LOTS of downhill stairs – much to my cousin Peter’s “enjoyment”. I’m just thankful my knee didn’t give out during that whole time! Continue reading

DAY 4 – Hong Kong

Today I decided to join my parents, older sister, brother-in-law, and nephew — and i’m returning to the place where I got lost as a child….OCEAN PARK!

DAY 3 – Hong Kong

It’s our first FULL day here in Hong Kong! We are staying at the Holiday Inn across for iSquare in the heart of the shopping district. I would go as far to say it was similar to Times Square in New York. Very similar vibe. Continue reading

BEHIND THE SCENES: 13 MILES MOVIE – BRIDGE STUDIOS

Today is a bittersweet day. It is the last FILMING DAY of 13 Miles! I have literally been apart of this project for a year (I think?). And what better way to celebrate the last day then to have our biggest crew gathering ever. With a special appearance of SNOW!

Thanks Anthony and Helena from Habethy Film for having me along on this special journey! I learnt a lot! And MET a lot of wonderful people out of it.

BEHIND THE SCENES: 13 MILES MOVIE – YVR AIRPORT

We filmed at a small airport next to the main YVR airport.  It wasn’t too crowded and there weren’t many signs or billboards anywhere! Making it the perfect airport location to film.
