I went over to Victoria for the second weekend in a row to check out my buddy, TYSON ELDER‘s (creator & all-around badass of YYJ ROCKTOGRAPHERS) biannual showcase that he put on for local concert photographer’s. Always a fun time, the first night always having live entertainment and beer! Two of my favourite things!
The ferry coming over was 15 minutes late and I was hungry to begin with (as usual) so I didn’t really get into town and at the event until later in the evening. I arrived late so I caught just the last 5 minutes of COLIN MCTAGGARTS set (sorry Colin!). I checked out all of my fellow photographers photos and they were incredible!
Throughout the night, I hung out and caught up quickly with friends and was reminded of how much I missed listening to live acoustic sets. Jeff always has an amazing voice, so listening to him after being away from live music, was like coming home (ironic).
After playing a couple songs, Jeff pulled out a selfie stick and got a group photo of everyone there:
And then, webmeisterbud took the other side of the group selfie:
The event lasted all weekend long and I heard it was again a huge success!
Good job, Tyson!
Later that evening, I met up with my friend Landon to grab some food and catch up on life. We first went to the Pink Bicycle but it was sadly closed right when we got there. So then we went to Foo Asian Street Food — and I’ve never been but was always curious about it because it’s been there forever! I always see it in that corner across the street from the movie theatre. When we got there they were also about to close but they were nice enough that they took ours and the couple that arrived a couple minutes after us’s order. Which I really appreciated because I literally have not eaten since lunch and that was at 1pm. And it was now just after 10pm.
I got the butterchicken and rice with bread and OH MY GOODNESS it was SO GOOD! I can’t really remember what Landon got because I was too busy devouring my dinner! But before all that, we went to Swans Pub to fill up Landon’s growler. He paid for the dinner, so I paid for the refill. We went back to his apartment which was only a short walk, and we ate on his balcony as we watched and waved at a bunch of tour bus’ go by.
All in all, it was a fun night!
I’ll see you guys on Tuesday!
