I CAN’T BELIEVE I FINALLY GOT TO SEE DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE!! NOT ONLY LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME BUT ALSO TAKING PHOTOS AND BEING LITERALLY 2-7 STEPS AWAY FROM EACH BAND MEMBER!
Even though the lighting was slightly (very) pink, I was able to produce a few photos from the first 3 sets (albeit probably not the best photos). The photos looked more “ethereal” , over-exposed, and “cosmic”-like, which is maybe reflective of how I was feeling the whole night anyways. I was more focused on watching them perform than anything else. I didn’t know when I will have this opportunity again, so I really just wanted to bask in the glory that is Ben Gibbard’s voice and the beautiful music his band produces through there wonderful musical instruments.
I missed out when THE POSTAL SERVICE came to Vancouver and I was really hoping – even though I knew there would be less than 0.00001% chance that The Postal Service vinyl would be available for purchase – I really really wanted it. I was nevertheless and not surprisingly crying and fan-girling in the deep recesses of my mind that night, singing along to every song. It got to the point where I left the crowded stage, and went backstage/side-stage and just watched from there, it was too epic for myself too handlel!
Also, I lost my mind when they began to play “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” — this is basically how I described it to a few of my friends:
You know that feeling where when you get really excited you get goosebumps and like you can feel tears forming but it’s just that? They’re “forming” but not falling? And you just can’t help but feel so really happy and light? Maybe that’s me. But that’s what it felt like when he started to play “I Will Follow You Into The Dark.”
You can see a bit of DCFC’s performance in episode 4:
